Healthy from the inside out

We've all heard the phrase "you are what you eat". But do we really stop to think about exactly what that means?

Fuel for life

Our body's fuel is, of course, food. But it's not just a matter of ingesting, digesting, and expelling. Everything we eat is used throughout our entire bodies to create and stabilize every cell and organ. Our food really does become us! So why are we so shy about picking up those whole foods at the grocery store? Why don't we spend more time on the outskirts of the supermarket, instead of through the endless aisles of processed dry goods? Could it be our busy lifestyles, our need for convenience, or simply having been raised on and used to these foods? It's probably a little of all those things. Our bodies don't care that we didn't feel like grabbing the raw ingredients and taking the time to prepare them. ll it knows is what goes in is going to become the ingredients for our cells' reproduction. There are countless quick healthy meal recipes out there, and we don't have to look far to find them. Just googling "quick healthy recipe" will come up with loads of easy meals.

Tip:

For a leaner, healthier meal that cuts out the bulk calories, look for the meatless or vegan options. Bonus: Switching to vegan meals even once a week can have a massive impact on our environment! The production of one burger emits as much gas as a 200 mile drive!

When it comes to our bodies, we tend to think of them as our all powerful vehicles for getting around. But they aren't all powerful, and require our love and care. Just as we care for our cars, our homes, our families, so should we care for our bodies. They're the only ones we got!
